Sports Massage
This therapy is used in three distinct ways:
1. Warming a sports-person up
As a part of the sports-persons warm-up, the vigorous massage kneading and
tapotement are used on the muscles and tissue concerned with the sporting event.
This helps to promote blood flow, and literally warms the area. This therapy is
done 'in the field'.
2. For maintenance or remedial
3. Cooling the sports-person down
After the sports-person has done their usual cool-down routine, massage therapy
is used to soothe and assist drainage. There has been an observable reduction in
DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness.)
I intend to expand this entry greatly, especially the
techniques mentioned above. Please, watch this space!
